The Studio @ Billings Forge is a 2,600 square foot multi-purpose community space with a mission to nourish creativity and promote cultural exchange and learning through the performing and visual arts. The Studio offers space for enrichment programming, including classes in movement, music and art for adults and children and will be utilized for community meetings and educational workshops. The Studio is also used as an entertainment venue for jazz and world music, film series and literary readings. In addition, The Studio is available for rent or barter to local non-profit and arts groups and individuals, providing a much needed low cost venue for local and non-local performers, and adding to the vitality of the neighborhood.
The Studio @ Billings Forge is one of many dynamic initiatives that comprise Billings Forge Community Works. Billings Forge Community Works (BFCW), located in the Frog Hollow neighborhood of Hartford, is a non-profit organization committed to revitalization in the community. BFCW is repsonsible for the development and management of programs that improve the conditions of poverty, offer a healthy quality of life and provide economic redevelopment opportunities. BFCW programs include The Farmers Market @ Billings Forge, The Studio @ Billings Forge, the Residencies @ Billings Forge and The Kitchen @ Billings Forge. At the forefront of the project is the award winning Firebox Restaurant.
